Greeting clients

A mixed class looking at a range of subjects including how to meet and greet clients when they come to your office. If you work as a receptionist or in client handling, you should find this class particularly useful.

If it's your job to greet clients, whether because you're the receptionist or you just sit nearest the front door (hey, it could be worse), then, at the very least, you'll need to know the following phrases: 

  • Bonjour, que puis-je faire pour vous?
    Good morning, how can I help you?

Here's an alternative which you may also hear:

  • Bonjour, comment puis-je vous aider
    Good morning, how can I help you?

Asking the client/visitor for their details

When greeting clients at your office, we can use:

  • Qui voudriez-vous voir?
    Who are you here to see?
  • De quelle entreprise venez-vous ?
    Which company are you from?

  • Pourriez-vous me donner votre nom, s’il vous plait?
    Could you give me your name, please?

Do you have an appointment?

  • Avez-vous rendez-vous?
    Do you have an appointment?
  • À quelle heure est votre réunion ?
    What time is your meeting?

Attending to the client

It's always a good idea to make the client feel at home:

  • Vous voulez vous assoir? / Voulez-vous prendre place?
    Would you like to sit down?
  • Vous voulez un verre d'eau?
    Would you like a glass of water?
